The quaint "English" capitol city of Victoria is seventy miles to the south.
Once there you can shop for fine British woollens, ride in a horse drawn
carriage around the bustling waterfront, enjoy an authentic English tea in the
stately Empress Hotel and visit the superb B.C. Museum with it's magnificent
display of aboriginal history.To the West you can take a drive through majestic
rain forests with trees older than the Magna Carta on your journey to the
fabled West Coast of Vancouver Island. This area is called the "Graveyard of
the Pacific" because of the hundreds of ships wrecked here over the centuries.
Watch the waves thunder ashore on the silver strand of Long Beach in the
Pacific Rim National Park, take a Whale watching tour to see, and sometimes
even
touch a whale migrating down the coast to their breeding grounds in Baja
California Mexico.
Back at the condo, whatever your interests are, Schooner Cove is guaranteed to
to fill the bill. The area is a golfers' paradise (the nearest of many golf
courses, "Fairwinds", is a five minute walk from your condo).Tennis, fishing,
boating and kayaking are all literally on the doorstep. In the winter months,
November through April, the Mt. Washington ski resort (sixty miles to the
north), offers world class skiing on a mountain that boasts more snow than any
other facility on the west coast.
